Our purpose

Tiranga & India is an independent educational website built to give students, researchers, and curious readers a clear, well-organised, and carefully sourced introduction to India's national flag and its freedom movement. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Government of India or any political organisation.

Our editorial mission

Indian history spans thousands of sources, regional archives, and decades of scholarship, much of it difficult for a general reader to access quickly. Our goal is to organise the essential facts of the flag's history and the freedom movement into articles that are accurate, readable, and properly sourced — useful for a student writing an assignment, a family explaining Independence Day to children, or anyone wanting a refresher on how the Tiranga came to be.

How we research and write

Each article on this site is written to a consistent structure — background, key events, important people, timeline, significance, consequences, and sources — drawing on government publications, the National Archives of India, the Ministry of Culture, Constituent Assembly records, and standard academic histories of the independence movement. Where historical accounts genuinely differ — a not-uncommon situation in this period of history — we try to say so explicitly rather than presenting one version as the only truth.

We do not publish content generated in bulk with no editorial oversight. Every article is reviewed for accuracy and clarity before publication, and we would rather publish fewer, better pages than many thin ones.

Corrections

History is a field of ongoing scholarship, and we expect to make mistakes despite our best efforts. If you spot a factual error, a broken source, or a claim you believe is inaccurate or unsupported, please tell us using the contact form. We review every correction request and update articles where appropriate, noting significant revisions with an updated "last modified" date.
